Two PKK militants on Turkey's "red list", Mehmet Iltas and Mehmet Esref Kizilay, have been turned over to Turkey by Germany.

According to the NTV news, Iltas has been wanted in relation with the deaths of eight and the injury of four people in 1991, while Kizilay has been searched for in relation with the murder of a police officer in 1991. Iltas was brought to Turkey on 19 September and Kizilay, who was caught in Germany in March 2007, was brought on 23 November.

The Ministry of Justice stated that Kizilay had been caught in Germany in 1998, but that Germany refused to turn him over to Turkey because the death penalty was still in effect. (TK/AG)
