“AK Party Is Eavesdropping” Claims The Opposition

Yesterday at the Parliament, Hakkı Süha Okay, the Acting President of the Parliamentary Group for the Republican People’s Party (CHP), went on the floor and said that tapping of  Önder Sav’s room was violation of the fundamental rights and liberties and the secrecy of the private life.

The opposition party, Republican People’s Party (CHP), accused the governing Justice and Development Party (AKP) for tapping and bugging the CHP Secretary-General Önder Sav’s office. Interior Minister Beşir Atalay denied the claim.

Atalay: Let us form a joint commission

Addressing the Parliament after Okay, Interior Minister Beşir Atalay stated that this was a clear violation of human rights and it had to be investigated. However, he also mentioned that they should not be in hurry to blame the security forces. He concluded by asking for a joint commission to investigate the violation, stating that as the government, they would everything to catch those responsible for the violation.

“He is getting information from the governor as a provincial chairperson would”

Atalay also criticized the meeting between Sav and the former Bolu governor Ali Serindağ, who is now a Center governor, implying how inappropriate it is for an opposition secretary-general visiting a Center governor and getting information from him as a provincial chairperson would.

Atalay said that he would not resign.     

Anadol: We do not blame the entire staff of the police

Kemal Anadol from CHP said that it was natural to bring this complaint to the Parliament, adding that they were not blaming the entire staff of the police forces of the Ministry of Interior. (TK/GG/TB)
