The police officer A.Y. was arrested for shooting Soner Çankal in Ankara. According to the witnesses, the police officer shot Çankal in the head after he was caught. But the police department said the officer was just defending himself.

Police officer A.Y. killed Soner Çankal. 12th Criminal Court of First Instance of Ankara arrested the police officer.
According to daily Radikal’s Mesut Hasan Benli and Behzat Miser, the witnesses say that the police officer A. who shot seventeen year old Soner Çankal four times from his foot later shot him from his head.
According to the witnesses, after a police officer named H. told police office A. to shoot Soner from his head, A. shot Çankal from his head and left a small amount of dope and a gun next to him.
But the police department says A. was attacked by Çankal’s relatives, fired his gun in the commotion and Çankal was shot.
On the other hand, there have been developments in police killings. In Adana, police officer S.B. was arrested for shooting 14 year old Ahmet Yıldırım on November 9. S.B. claims he shot his gun in the air.
According to daily Evrensel, in Bakırköy, Istanbul, the police shot Garip Ç.who was sitting in the mini bus that was ordered to stop. Garip G. was injured from his waist.
The families of the victims of the police shootings got together to fight for their rights. The family of Baran Tursun who was shot and killed in Izmir had visited the family of Feyzullah Ete who was shot and killed in Istanbul. (TK/EÜ)
