Local weekly Haber 49 owner and editor-in-chief Emrullah Ozbey says ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) MP Medeni Yilmaz's relatives threatened him to death because of an article questioning the actions of him.
Ozbey filed a complaint on December 6.
The article in question titled "Where's the equality?" was published six days ago, saying that local bureaucrats working on a corruption case were stripped of their posts by political pressure.
It states that the municipality's efforts to fight corruption are undermined by the double standards of the central government and holds the local MP's responsible.
Ozbey claims that two brothers of MP Yilmaz met him following the apparition of the article and threatened saying "you wouldn't be able to live here if you keep writing against us". (EÖ/EÜ)
